Senior Trip to Brazos Bend
How about a Night Under the Stars?
Join Tana Wilkinson on Saturday, September 25, on a trip to the George Observatory at Brazos Bend State Park in Needville. What a great time to get back to exploring the galaxy! The outing will start with a picnic dinner from Schultz’s BBQ in Rosenberg that includes brisket, sausage, potato salad, coleslaw and pinto beans. Following dinner, the tour around the park will include the Nature Center and maybe a walk to the lake to see some alligators (!). You will want to bring an ample supply of insect repellent, as this location is in the woods.
A visit to the Observatory will begin about 9:00 pm, after it gets dark. The George Observatory (part of the Houston Museum of Natural Science) has reopened after nearly two years undergoing an extreme makeover. This is how to see a star or even a planet up close! You may also bring your own telescope or binoculars for personal viewing. (In the event of overcast skies, previously captured images will be shown on monitors.) Following the star show, the bus will return to the St. Philip’s parking lot about 11:00 pm.
*Note: the Observatory requires face masks to be worn.*
